Beauty Tips to Correct Some Common Mistakes
Even when we think we know our way around, there is always something new to learn about beauty. We take some beauty regimens for granted and others, we completely overlook. From your hair, to the perfume that you spritz on, to how you treat puffy eyes, there could be some beauty mistakes that you make. Here are some of the most common beauty mistakes and how you can correct them.
How do you apply conditioner? Most likely from the root of your hair, down to the ends and then, throughout the head. However, this is completely wasting conditioner and putting too much weight on your hair. In the end, you will have residual conditioner in your hair and you would have to keep washing your hair frequently. The hair roots do not need conditioning, as this is new hair growth. The ends need to be conditioned because they are prone to damage. A better approach is to begin at your ears and start to apply the conditioner from here downwards. This will give volume to your hair and will cut down on the frequency with which you clean your hair.
A good number of us spray perfume on our clothes instead of, or in addition to spraying on the skin. The rationale is that we want both our body and our clothes to smell great. However, the truth is that perfume is meant for the body only and spritzing it on fabric can cause the fabric to have a bad odor. The best approach is to spray a little fragrance on the skin pulse points including just below your throat, behind the ears and on the knees. Do not rub or message in the perfume in an effort to make the skin absorb it; the skin does this naturally. On the contrary, rubbing the perfume only breaks its chemical structure, leaving you with no fragrance at all.
Nothing can cause you more insecurity than poorly done eyebrows. Yet sometimes we are so keen on making sure that we are plucking correctly that we stand too close to the mirror. This is not advisable because you cannot see the bigger picture, that is your face and the shape of the eyebrow. Beauty experts advise that you use a large mirror and place it close to a window so that there is enough light and you can see clearly. Then move a couple of steps back so that you have a complete view of your face. Move closer to the mirror and start to pluck and then take a few steps back to survey. Do this until you are finished shaping your eyebrows.
When it comes to puffy eyes, the tendency is to reach out for the eye cream, with the hope that it will alleviate the puffiness. However, eye creams cause the skin to retain water, causing your eyes to appear even puffier. To bring relief following eye puffiness, simply apply an ice compress for about 15 minutes. If you experience other symptoms in addition to the puffiness such as redness and irritation, you might be having an allergic reaction. It is advisable to see a dermatologist.
